Inside Komodo’s 2020 Global Strategy Week
Updated: Jun 17
Komodo was started two years ago, in April 2018, and the company has only gone from strength to strength, growing faster than any of us could have ever hoped. We’ve recently opened two more offices, first in Sydney and then LA, to work alongside Komodo HQ in London. This kind of rapid growth has not been without its stresses and strains, but our entire team has worked tirelessly to get the business to the point it is at today!
We have always known how hard working and loyal all of our staff are to the company, and we wouldn’t be able to do it without them, but we have never had the opportunity to fully show our appreciation…until now!
We took our entire team from the UK, USA, and Australia to Thailand to unite the Komodo family under one roof and have a week’s worth of strategy planning and team building. We were lucky enough to stay at some pretty incredible locations in Phuket and owe massive thanks to Wan Issara and his team at Baba Beach and Sri Panwa for their incredible hospitality.
With 16 people under the same roof, all full of energy, ideas and excitement, we were in an incredible position to elevate the business onto new levels. Together we worked through the various parts of our business; talent management, social media management, brand activations and content creation. We had daily seminars from industry experts, one-on-one sessions with our counterparts from offices across the globe, and everyone shared their knowledge and ambitions for the future.
Our week wasn’t all work though because let’s be honest, with 16 likeminded people in Thailand there are always going to be a few beers involved! We had various activites lined up, most notably a boat day-trip where we explored ‘James Bond Island’ near Phuket, and had an impromptu game of rugby. Being truly creative we dug out a coconut for a rugby ball…there are definitely worse places for a game!
In true Komodo style, on our last night we went for an almighty ‘blow out’ with the whole gang descending on the infamous Patong Beach and Bangla Road. I think from the picture below you can tell we had a good time!
With a few feeling a little worse for wear, our week was over. We left Thailand feeling revived, happy, and more united than ever. The teams went their separate ways hungry to action everything we had discussed. Everyone left with exciting projects to work on, whether it was implementing new marketing strategies, expanding our pool of influencer talent, or exploring brands to work with, which means big things on the horizon for Komodo.
